Hospital won the toss, electing to play_ with what little wind there waa. Marist at once rushed play towards tne Hospital goal, Barton and M'Elligott being prominent. The attack was stopped by Thompson, and Dick and Gibb went away, but Rudolph cleared well. Hughes shortly afterwards went away in fine style, sending across to B. Ferguson, who scored at close range. Hospital 1. Jianst 0. Hospital's forwards again attacked, but met with a solid defence. Gibb shot well, a trifle wide. Barton quickly removed play, but Tyson blocked the way. Hospital pressed down for a spell, a beautiful centre from the right promising results, but Rudolph cleared. Marist went away, and Cudby sent across. Thompson miskicked and gave a corner, which was cleared by Tre■w;ck. Hospital gained a couple of resultless corners. After casual line play t1,6 balr went to centre, Robinson trying a rather long one. Thomas st-arted away a Marist attack, but Costello could do nothing with- the greasy, heavy ball. Up and down, and not particularly interesting,' play followed, but Lambert set up a partnership with Gibb, the latter going down well, but shooting wide. Marist handled the ball: well from wing £0 wmg, M'Elligott filially centring nicely, but there was no one' in position, and J. Ferguson cleared. From a Ion" drive from a kick for an oft-side. Hospital went away on the right, Hughes bwigmg in from ten yards. Hickey had a lot of luck to save. Again Mariat were sent away by Burke, Cudby closing in and slipping neatly past Trewick to the corner of the net. Marist 2, Hospital 1. This represented a very considerable change in the fortunes of the game for previously Hospital had certainly had the better of the going. Cudby tried again twice, the first hard along the ground, fast but well out, the second skimming the bar. ■Hosiptal took a turn, Lambert doing some nice work. Play coutined fast and open till the whistle fo.- half-time. Costello and Cudby went off for a third goal right away on the recommencement, but Cudby's shot was a couple of feet out, though a good attempt. M'Elligott, showing great pace, went down the side line, but was robbed by Tyson. Barton next sent in a good centre, right to goal-mouth. Pope headed over the bar. Hospital could not get going. Fitzgerald was kicking beautifully. Barton and M'Elligott went through, Smith giving a corner, but nothing came of it. A mis-kick by J. Ferguson gave another corner. . Lambert scorched up the lini, and gave across to D. Ferguson, but Rudolph cleared to well dowufield. Tyson and Lumbert opened play again, but Hickey handed away. Burke at once sent Pope, Costello, and Cudby off, Trewick leaving his goal to boot clear. Marist continued to maintain a general advantage, the good work of their halves and backs holding play pretty well to tho Hospital end of the field. Hospital's passing,, moreover, had becomo a trifle ragged. Robinson, Gibb, and 'Ferguson went through nfter several attempts, Ferguson forcing a corniv from Rudolph, but Smith sent behind, Tyson endeavoured to go through solo, but again met the backs. Lambert had no better fortune. Marist made a showy run on the left, Thompson going across just in time to clear from a bunch ed, fast-moving attack. Burko tried unsuccessfully from well out. EVEN GOING. . Hosiptal lit length got going in earnest on the right, Smith, Dick, and D. Ferguson. They covered practically the field length, Ferguson bunging in.
