Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report: We held our second, opossum skin sale yesterday, wlien we submitted a fair catalogue of all grades to an atteudauce of Southern :md local buyers. Competition . was very keen for all descriptions, aud prices as. compared with our sale of the 28th ultimo were Is Od to 2s better. The quality of the skins offered was not aij good as lasf.sale, being the denning up of the season. For a .nine line of. blues from the Fcatherston. district we secured 14s Gd each, ami for a line of super Hacks from Kketahunii we secured 18b' 3d. Trappers who are.holding skins ■'would .do well to forward them at, once for realisation. A great deal depends on the proper stretch-, ing and general get-up of' the skins, and we again notice that a. number of trappers spoilt the sule of their skins by bad stretching. Numbers of skins were stretched too square, and others agitiu were too long; the idea is to keep the fur ns compact as possible. The following is n range of ■price's :— Kirst blues, Ms fit' each; blues, Ss. nil, each; first greys. Us Id each;. greys,. 6s 3d tolls Id;, super blacks. ]3s. 3d: ljr.o\vns,. .(is .to Os 3d; reds; 7s Sd; bush rats, blue and grejs 6s.
