PARLIAMENT
REMAINING. BUSINESS.
It is probable that the Public Works Statement and Estimates will be presented' to the House of Representatives to-night. While outlining a policy of progressive development in regard-to railways, hydro-electricity, and highways, the Statement will indicate how the £1,----000,000 transferred from the last surplus is to be allocated, but it is. not anticipated that the document will prove so interesting as that of last year, •in view of the fact that the programme of developmental railway works for tho next eighti years has now been defined. Hydro-electric schemes will come in for mention. The policy to bo adopted under this head has been outlined, and co far as the Wellington district is concerned it is expected that Mangahao will be in full working order by the end of this year, or in the early part of 1925.
Other business to be dealt with by the House to-night ia expected to include the third reading of the Meat Export Control Bill, the measure over which Mr. Lysnar created some excitement just over a week ago. To-night he may repeat his previous effort. An endeavour is to be made to terminate the cession at the end of the week, if possible, but it is generally thought to be unlikely that the business will be wound up before to-morrow week.
