PROFITS OF NEW ZEALAND TOUR-

. At the annual-meeting in London of the. Rugby Union, Mr. W. S. Donne (Somerset) was elected president, W. Williams (Middlesex),.and H.- C. Fereris (Durham) vice-presidents, and E. Prescott treasurer, in succession to W. Cail, /who had. held the post for 30 years. The balance-sheet .showed assets amounting to £65,647. The- Twickenham ground is valued at £26,966. The match account, showed the following profits :—North v. South, £377; Probables v. Possibles, £119; England v: the Best, £1009; England v. France, £6028; a_nd England v. Scotland, £7063. In' taking over the presidency, reports an English exchange, Mr. Donne said in connection rwith the New Zealand tour that all profits would go to the development of the Rugby game in Britain. As regards further accommodation on the occasion of international" matches, the union had had the offer of Wembley and _ had declined it. Financial considerations prevented them from -entertaining the idea of building a new ground but they were spending £30,000 in improving the accommodation at Twickenham, which would provide for 10,640 additional people, including 3515 reserved seats.. A's regards tickets for big matches, players, and those closely identified with the game would liavo preferential treatment, and . every endeavour would be made to prevent tickets getting into the hands of people who would sell them again at a profit. . _ The recommendation of the International Board that nb player, except at his marriage,, should receive a present of a value exceeding £2 was carried. ' _ Mr. Miller (Yorkshire) raised the question of "feet up" in the scrummage. It was pointed out that this was forbidden in the .'laws of the Rugby Union, but that the International Board would not accept the prohibition.
