ROWING
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the council of the NewZealand Amateur Rowing Association was held lust evening, Mr. E. S. -Innes presiding. Thero were also' present Messrs. D. R, Menzies, C. S. EastWood, J. E. Widdop, G. Laughlan, H. Paton, and A. D. Bayfeild. (Hon. secretary). Applications for the 1925 ctiampionsbip regatta, were received from Auckland, Canterbury, and Marlborough, and were referred to the annual meeting of delegates for allocation. Correspondence was received-from the New South Wales Association stating that they were in communication with other Australian States in connection ! with the arrangements of regattas for the proposed visit of New Zealand oarsmen to Australia in March and April, 1925. Marlborough, Wanganui, and Wellington associations wrote promising strong support to tho visit. In connection with the association's request for a remission of duty on boats and oars, it was resolved to give an assurance to the Customs Department that sufficient orders would be available to local builders to keep them employed. An invitation to compete at Melbourne on 28th October was received from the "Henley" Regatta Committee. Tho committee offered £50 expenses towards a "four-oared crew. The council regretted that it could not accepi the invitation, it being too early for crews to make any preparation in the, way of training.
