INITIAL VICTORIES
MANCHU GENERAL'S SUCCESSES. (REUTERS TELEGRAM.) (Received 26th September; 11 a.m.) ' / PEKIN, 25th September. Iwo important victories are annbuncWl by Chang Tso-lin in a communique, the capture of Chao-yang, north of the .f-f'^'ay and the town of Kinchow. The Lluhli army lost 600 killed, 4CO prisoners, 6 guns, 8 machine-guns, and ICCO lines. The victorious Manchus are advancing towards Ling Yuan. ' An unofficial but. trustworthy report jStates that Chang's forces have taken Kailu, the Chihli troops suffering heavily. The Mukden forces number 190 000, and they we well equipped and well paid. _ LONDON, 24th September. J± Mukden communique claims that 8000 Chihli troops have been, defeated during the past few days, and the 'remnants, about 2000, have fled to the west pf Chaoyang.
