HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING.. A meeting of the Wellington Hospital hoard was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. F.. Castle (chairman), D Campbell, A. J. M'Curdy, C. H Chapman, C. M. Luke, A. R. Hornblow W. Cole, G. Petherick, E. Windjpy> J- H- Bertram, C. B. Robinson, C. A. Williamson, the Rev. H. Van Stay- % l' c"-. the Key. Dr. J. K. Elliott, and Mrs M Vicar. The Patients' Fees Accounts Committee reported that the Commercial Agency had collected fees from 28th April to 16th September, amounting to £792 Ihe maintenance fees for the five months April to August amounted to £7214 For th? sanie.period last year the sum was £5050. Accounts for payment, for the month amounting to £15,318, were passed. It was stated by the chairman that the resignation of Nurse M. Ongley, district nurse at Paraparaumu,,. bad been withdrawn. Authority was given to the matron to expend up to £100 for Christmas goods, toys, and extras. Mr. C. M. Luke, chairman of the Hospital Committee, reported that copies Of the book, "The Slave of Sorrow/ had been received from the author Senor Humberto Bidone, Consul-General for the Argentine Republic, who had dedicated the novel to all his friends in r>ew Zealand; and had provided that any profits which might accrue from the sale of tho work won Id. bo devoted to the Wellington Hospital. The resignations of Dr. L. R. Be Castro and Dr. W. J. Robertson, house surgeons, were received, with regret. Tho following were appointed dolegates to the approaching conference of hospital boards;— Messrs. C. M. Luke G. Pethoriok, W. Appleton, C. 11. Chapman, ].\ Castle, and the medical superintendent and secretary.
