. Mr. Henry Allison, who died at Christ-church-on Thursday, aged 77. YeaTs, was a ■well-known.'figure in Canterbury. He was born-at -Mansfield,' Nottinghamshire, and ; arrived, in Lytteltoni: with liis parents,, the lata. Miv and -Mrs. Charles 'Allison, in. the sship Isobella,; Hercus in 1856. He had lived in "■■ Christchurch ever, since. Practically, all his business career. (53 years) had been spent with Harman and Stevens, Ltd. ' For thirty years.; Mr: 'Allison was secretary of; the South: Waimakariri River Board, which has. recently been ' reconstituted.as the Waimakiriri River Trust. He-had been a director of the Christchurch .Building and Land,. Society for thirty-five years, and .-chairman of directors for the last twenty-three years. The late Mr. Allison was keenly.interested in /literature 'and science, and was a member of the N.Z. Philosophical Institute of the Cai> terbury . Natural History and ' Microscopical-. Society..
