THEFT ALLEGED

FROM GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT.

A clerk, 22 years of age, named Robert Snowdon Bush, Was charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day, before. Mr. E. Page, S.M., -with that, while being a servant in the employ of the New Zealand Government in the Native Trust Department, ho converted to his own use £6 12s 6d, received from T. A. Eder on terms requiring him to pay the same to the Native Trust Account. In asking for n. remand to 17th September, Chief-Detective Kemp stated that accused's alleged total defalcations amounted to. about £150. He was a. married man, rind at the time of his arrest by Detective Nuttall was in the employ of W. D. and H. O. Wills, tobacconists. Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell, who appeared for 'Bush, said ho did not desire to make an application for bail. The remand was granted.
