SETTLING BUNNIES
From the nature of a question asked by Mr. F. Lye (Waikato) in the House of Representatives yesterday, there seems to have been invented a method of eradicating rabbits, but the. Department o£ Agriculture lias not been successful- in getting the secret revealed unto it. Mr. Lye asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will instruct Mr. Wright or an officer of .his Department to investigate "on the spot" the remedy proposed by Mr. J. W. Thompson, of .rkougia, for the eradicaliou pf Jhg rab-
bit pert: and-whether, -with a view o! thoroughly testing the^uggested remedy in the interests of "the country, he will instruct such departmental officer-to take up his residence in the dish-jet for at least a week, bo that an effectual test of the suggested remedy may be possible for once and for'all. The Hon.: W. Nosworthy (Minister of Agnculture) -replied: "The Department nas been in correspondence with1 Mr. Thompson; and, in accordance with usual practice, has expressed its willingness to make a thorough test if he.: will first furnish confidential - information a s to the nature of his process and the material used. He has.beeri assured that this"w''ll be'treated' as-being strictly confidential, and that no advantage of- any kind wilt be tken of it; but, 'notwithstanding thus assurance, he declines to accede to the proposal. Under the. circumstances, therefore, nothing can be done meanwhile. . . .. '
