SUDAN SITUATION
MINOR DISTURBANCES
POSITION REGARDING MARTIAL

(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE .ASSOCIATION.) ■ ■ LONDON, 19th August. A report that. martial law has been proclaimed in Port Sudan is so far unconfirmed. It is ,pointed out that the Anglo-Egyptian Convention of 1889 provided that the Sudan should remain under martial law until otherwise determined. This provision, so far as can be ascertained, has not been cancelled Four fighting aeroplanes arrived at Khartoum during the morning. Four others are remaining at Atbara A mci. arrests were made at Port Sudan yesterday in connection with minor disturbances, which the police easily controlled. -. ■
