CHRISTCHURCH, 20th August. At the Addington market to-day entries were up to the average, with the exception of fat cattle. There being no sale during -National Week, supplies held by butchers were short, and there was a keen sale for all classes of stock. a tore. Sheep.—A moderate-sized entry and keener sale than for some weeks. Fat Sheep.—A good-sized yarding of ten races. Over the first half 'values were better than at the last sale by up to la 6d per head, but in the final stages ttio demand weakened to last-sale's rates. Extra prime wethers 57s 9d prime 45s to 50s, medium 40s to 44s light 34 3 to 395. Extra prime ewes 42s to 4bs, prime 37s to 40s, medium 33s 6d, hght 29s to 335, old 25s to 28s, prime hoggets 35s to 40s. . .
Fat Cattle—A small yarding of 345 4« A few Emal! lines of held-over •JNprtn Island cattle were included, otherwise the entry was Canterbury stuff. In spite of the. excess entry at the National market, values were up b"y £2 to £2 10s per head. In cases of specially good, beef up t0.42s per 1001b was paid, lnme made 36s 6d to 40s, medium 33s od,to 365, inferior 25s to 335.' Store Cattle.—An. entry'. of 196 head, mostly cows. ..Prices were-well up to late rates. Best cows £2 18s to £3 5s medium 15 S to £2 12s, inferior 11s to £1 12s. 6d, two-year heifers £1 15s to £2 2s, calves 8s 6d to 20s, bulls £2 od to .£5.
