PROGRESSIVE. ASSOCIATION MEETING. ■. ■ ■ ■
The monthhr meeting of the executive of the Lyall Bay Progressive Association was :held last evening at the school, Mr. J. M. Bertram in the chair. There was a good attendance of members.
in reference to an inquiry by the Kilmrnie Ratepayers' Association as to the boundary between its district and Lyall Bay, the committee, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Cairns resolved that the boundary should be the centre of Coutts street, from Rongotai tramway waiting shed, along the centre of Childers terrace, Burke street and Katinga terrace to the Town Belt, and that ' a reply be forwarded accordingly. If Kilbirnie is agreeable a notification to that effect is to be sent to the Eastern Suburbs League. . The City Council's recommendation as to the location of future fire alarms cor-' ncr of Queen's Drive, Wha street (moved from corner of Froyberg street and Queen s Drive), and the corner of Cook street, and Onepu road and the corner of South Apu crescent and Onepu road, were approved. Messrs. Winton, Brown, W. Sherwood, and R. Leslie Jones were appointed a special deputation to wait on the school committee to solicit its support in cooperation to provide for the preparation and equipment of the proposed play area. In regard to the beach, it was decided to ask the council to have notices placed at prominent points to the effect that supplies of hot water could be procured at the pavilion, charge to be stated. It.\vas further decided to ask that a ladies' rest room and convenience be erected at the east side of the beach near Onepu road. The absence of a light in the right-of-way from Onepu road to Freyberg street was mentioned, and it was decided to ask the City Council to remedy this deficiency, and to give the residents a greater feeling of security at night time. ■ It was decided in view of th» growth of the district and the increase ot population and in view of certain recent occurrences, to ask the Superintendent of Police for additional police proteotion.
