BRAZILIAN GOVERNMENT'S CLAIM
FEDERAL TROOPS COUNTERMOVE.

(SYDNEY SON CABLE.) (Received 29th July, 12.15 p.m.) RIO DE JANEIRO, 23th July. Ihe Government claims that the rebels capitulated and fled after, great damage had been done at Sao Paulo during the bombardment. More than thirty thousand Federal troops were engaged. Placards announce that the o-ederal forces have occupied the city cf Ttu, fifty miles to the north-west, and are endeavouring to cut off the retreat ot the revolutionary forces.
