THE ROYAL CHORAL UNION.
Handel's dramatic oratorio. "Samson,''' to be given in the Town Hall on Wednesday, 6th August, by the Royal Wellington Choral Union, under the 'direction of Mr. Temple White, promises to rival some of the best concerts the' society has yet given. Last, evening the chorus and orchestra practised the music together. Their regard ,to the finer points of music showed that Mr. White's coaching has given them ah artistic conception of the great work. There are to be rehearsals /this evening, ■ chorus only, at St. John's Schoolroom, and the final on Tuesday next, 3rd, 'at the Town ■ Hall. This fact alone is sufficient to indicate that the society intends to give the public of its best.'- The box plan opens at The Bristol on Friday next, at 9 o'clock. The soloists takirie part are Mrs. R. J. Wildish, of Gisborne; Miss Mina Caldow, of Auckland; Mr. Sydney Butler, of Christchurch; and Messrs. C. E. Webb and lien Barnes, of this city.
