Sir, —Our worthy Mayor has consented to give the Chinese Soccer team a civic, roeoption, while lie refused the samo honour to the visiting Australian League team on the grounds, so he said, that they wore professionals. The Chiiieso are exponents of a code of football .that Admits professionalism into its ranks, and even sanctions the buying and selling of^playors as if they were chattels. As a resident of this city, I think our Mayor should extend the glad handtc any party of visiting' sports, whethoi amateur or professional, and not show, as he does oy his actions, -tliat he is out to kill League Rugby.—l aril, etc.,.
