LONDON, 22nd June. The "Daily Mail" states that a prominent Socialist has been offered the Governorship of. Tasmania, and is takinn- a few days to consider the offer. He .possesses sufficient means to entertain it. The Government desires to fill such positions with Labour, representatives, says the "Mail." 'Difficulty is being experienced in finding a successor to Viscount Jelhcoe who will be acceptable to the New Zealand Government, who desires the appointment of another admiral but the Labour ranks do not include any admirals. It is suggested that Lord Wester Wemyss will be appointed

It is understood that the statements published in the above cablegram do not accurately represent the position. Lord Jellicoe will remain in New Zealand . until the close of the session of Parliament which opens on Thursday. It is expected that the session will last until the beginning of November.
