DOMINION CONCILIATION
COUNCIL CONSIDERS STOREMEN'S DISPUTE. (BI rELBUiIAPII.—PKESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHUKCH, ISth June. The first sitting of a Dominion Conciliation Council was held in Christchurch to-day. The dispute concerned the New Zealand Federated Storemen and Packers' Industrial Association of Workers and the various employers ■in the industry m the Dominion. The men employed in wool, grain, and hide stores are those concerned in the dispute. There were more than 250 employers cited, covering the industry in Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. Hagger) presided, and the assessors were: tor the workers, Messrs W Miller (Auckland), S. Donkin (Wellington), H. Worrall (Christchurch), W. Herbert (Duncdin), aud 11. Lammas (Blenheim). For the employers, Messrs. G. T. Stevens (Invercargill)' Leicester. Matson (ChristehurchV X W. X, Coswin (Wellington) !>' "VV Gilbert (Wellington),. C. H. Hewlett Ghnstchureh) and B. H. Hammond (New Zealand Employers' Federation) Jn the early stages of the dispute the assessors were inclined to stick to their own proposals, and on the first consideration of the proposals seriatim very few proposals were agreed to. Later on m the day, however, more progress was made, and a good number of matters were settled. Mr. Hammond made' certain offers on behalf of the employers in respect of points which were not settled and these were held over till the next day.
