LONDON, 15th June. Sixty thousand people witnessed ttie accident in the rodeo contests on Saturday, when the steer broke its leg, and immediately commenced hooting and hissing. Directly the cowboys realised the position, a pistol shot rang out, and the steer dropped dead. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is applying for summonses in connection with tho matter, and has telegraphed to the Premier, protesting against the continuance of the performances. Mr. Cochran, the organiser, has announced that steer-roping will be discontinued in public, but will continue privately till the championship is settled, in order to keep faith with the cowboys.
