MEETING OF BOROUGH . COUNCIL. . The fortnightly meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held last evening-.1 Present: Mr. J. W. M'Ewan (Mayor), Councillors C. P. Brocklebank, A. G. Steffensen, V. Jacobson, R. H. Jones, H. Jay, William Hay, G. Cook, and W. P. Coles. ' The Gear Meat. Company was granted, a renewal of its slaughterhouse license. Mrs. J. A. Walker applied for an extension of her lease of a portion of the council's property at Korokoro. : An extension for a further three years was granted. . . •
Consent was given for a sub-division of the "George Jones property fronting Regent street. . ' , . ' .
.On the recommendation of .the Works Committee, it was decided to invite tenders .for the supply pf'plant for changing over from the council's own. supply of electric -current to the power.to be supplied by the Electric Power Board.
The .engineer reported that he bad located a broken storm-water drain in .Queen street, which! had been causing, an overflow at the Buick Street Recreation^ Ground gatesj and near 'the.police station. The' work •of : repairing wouldbe one of considerable magnitude. ■ The-engineer was,-instructed to report atvthe next meeting of . the, * council' re-. sardine an alleged encroachment on the footpath of a of Udy street.It was decided to carry out/the work' of.repairing the Patrick street, sewer for the P.A¥. Department at a- cost of £70, to be paid by the Department.
