At a meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association the Winter Show Committee submitted a financial statement in connection with the recent Gala Week Carnival held to raise funds to hold a Winter Show in Masterton. The bal-ance-sheet showed that the receipts totalled £1263 9s 6d. and expenditure £1155 I.os lid, leaving a credit balance of £107 18s 7d. It was decided to appoint a _ sub-committee to confer with a committee of business people with a view to holding another carnival next year.
The Tararua Power Board received eleven applications for the position of electrical _ inspector, and sixty-nine for the position' of clerk and1 storekeeper at Pallia tua.
At the Unitarian Church on Wednesday evening the Rev. J. G. W. Ellis will deliver un interesting lecture founded mi Irsael Zangwill's famous book, " The Children of the Ghetto."
