The- ball to be held- by the Citi-zens-Soldiers' Pageant executive, in aid of Gunner James Patrick; a Territorial, 19 years of age, Hvho lost his right hand as the'result of a gunnery accident'at Newtown Park during the progress of the recent Pageant, promises to be. a bift. success; The committee has the ar•rangements well in hand, and- all those who attend at. the Town Hall on "Saturday next are assured of a particularly pleasant evening's entertainment. A feature of the function will be the drawing of the big Pageant Art Union, for which there are 28 prizes. The names of the winners will be announced from the stage immediately after the drawing, and the prizes will be handed over to the holders of the lucky tickets. The first prize is for alluvial gold, valued at £350, the second for Alluvial gold, valued at £30, and the third for alluvial gold valued at £20. Twenty-five other prizes, valued at £l.each, will also be distributed. Special prizes are also being offered by the executive for fancy Sresses, including a gold wristlet watch for the best original dress; and a special prize for tile .best lady s fancy hat. . Two orchestras have been engaged, and under the con-' trol of Mr." J. A. Smythe, the danciiig will not be allo%yed to slow down. It is hoped that the ball will result in the raising of a substantial sum, as it will be readily conceded that the cause is a very worthy one.
