IMMIGRANTS

ATHENIC BRINGS FINE PARTY.

A large party of immigrants, numbering 412, arrived at Wellington this morning from Southamton by the ShawSavill liner Athenic. Their health on the voyage out was good, and.the officers of the vessel considered that the new-comers comprised one of the finest batches that have made the trip to date. Certainly their appearance was excellent, and all seemed delighted . to arrive in their new home under such favourable weather- conditions. Those booked for South Island ports will leave by the Lyttelton ferry steamer this evening, and those for stations north of Wellington- will proceed by a ; special train for Auckland, leaving here at 2 p.m. to-morrow.
