SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.
The building of the Sailors'Friend Society proved a good substitute for the proposed trip to the country, which was prevented by the unpleasant weather yesterday. Games were arranged by Mr. J. Moore, Missioner, and his workers, and were muclr-appreciated by the seafaring guests. The tug-of-war was keenly contested, and was won by the Dorset against all-comers. TiTe parlour cricket match aroused much enthusiasm, the final'-being won by the Dorset's team. A band of workers, under Mrs. J. Moore served lunch, tea, and supper. The prizes in the day's sports came from Mrs. Furkert; Mrs. Yule, Messrs. Derbyshire, Harts, and Edmonds. The prizewinners were Mrs. Williams, Miss Thelma Colpus. Messrs. Woods, Macomish, M'Darra, M'Laren, Jamison, Adams, MacLeod, Larsen, Mann, Spencer, S. Smith, Maitland, Connelly, Peaston, Joyce, Murphy, ' - Clare, Brown, and Danks. In the evening a concert was given by Miss Troon, who was assisted by Mrs. Saunders, Mrs.. H. Good, Miss V. Mueller, Messrs. Braithwaite, Waring, Jordon, Banks, Brown, and Moore. In an interval a jazz band from the Dorset played some acceptable music. On behalf of the workers, Mrs. 11. Good,- organist, was presented with a silver cream jug and sugar, basin, it being the completion of seven years- of service.
