DANCE IN ST. PETER'S HALL.
/ Never before, perhaps, has the dancing space and sitting-out accomritodation St. Peter's Hall been taxed as it was last evening, when 400 people gathered on the occasion of a welcome dance tendered to the Catholic officers ( arid sailors of the Special Naval Service Squadron. The ■floor;was crowded, and the number not dancing far exceeded the number on the floor. The hall was beautifully 'deco--rated for ■■■ the occasion with balloons,; streamers, and greenery. It was mentioned by one of the naval chaplains that since the Squadron left England they had not been given'a function of the same nature as: that which had been tendered to them that evening, land they were grateful to the' St. yincent de PaurSociety of Wellington' for the fine spirit 'shown in their efforts on behalf: of the Catholic officers and men, of whom, there was a very satisfactory number present. Those present included the Rev. Father A. J. Martin, B.D. (H.M.A.S. Adelaide), the Rev. Father L. Mann, .0.5.8. (H.M.S. Repulse), Paymaster-Lieut: T. Maynard (H.M.A;S. Adelaide), Paymaster Sub-Lieut. Perry (H.M.A.S. Adelaide), Midshipman R. Hancock, the Rev. Fathers M'Gra'th, Mahoney, , Maloney, and Cullen. Among the ladies' present were: Mrs. W. H. Ferris, black charmeuse; Madame dv Flou, beaded gorgette; Mr. and Mrs.'Ellis, the latter ;in black; Miss O'Connell, rose pink crepe de chine; Mss B. Emerson, blue shot taffeta.; Miss Sullivan,-.blue- taffeta;" Miss Chapman, cherry taffeta; Miss Q. Whiteford, , white lace;' Miss Flan^ jade marocain; Miss Gilfedder, black satin and lace; Miss G. M'Grath;' grey taffeta; Miss Mahar, pink geoi-gette; "Miss Aiken, shot taffeta; Miss M. Air.ken,,pink satin; Miss Conroy, pale pink charmeuse; Mrs.' Fitzgibbou, black.charmeuse; Miss Sullivan, black with jet overdress; Miss E. O'Brien, pink: satin brocade, with overdress of silver; Miss Ursula.Carter, cream net; Miss Eileen Carter, black velvet; Miss Boffa, apricot silk, with sequin over-dress;-Miss M. Fenton, black satin; Miss Marie dv Flou, black satin; Miss 'K. •Ferris, powder blue satin, with marabout .trimming; Miss'M. Griffin, cerise satin; Miss Rosewarne, lemon, georgette; Miss Frances Burke, blue crepe de chine; Miss Molly Ellis, apricot.taffeta;, Mrs. Gleeson, biscuit crepe de chine; Miss I. Arnold, black taffeta;: Miss Molly Kelly, black satin; Mrs. Morley, black; Mrs M'Millan, black velvet; Mrs. Webb, black charmeuse; Miss Eileen Sullivan, peacock blue satin, with lace sleeves; Miss Morley, lavender georgette; Miss ■ Mel■ton, saxe blue; Mrs. Scott, .crepe de chine; Mesdames O'Learj!;, Newtown Dwyer, Daly, Hackett, Compton, Melton' and otliers. . _ '. Mr, J. A. Scott was president of the committee, and Mr. R. S. Dwyer hon. secretary. ■ . ■'. .'-'.■ Mr. Robert Darroch,. secretary of the Navy League, was also present. Duringthe supper interval, Mrs. White's orchestra provided music.
