LABOUR'S DECISION

HOUSE FREE TO VOTE.

(Received 3rd May, 10.30 a.m.)

LONDON, 2nd May

A meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party in the House of Commons, presided over by the Premier, decided to leave the House free to vote on the Liberal measure to enact proportional representation, the second reading of which ■will be taken to-morrow.

The Liberals are greatly disappointed, because the measure is one of the most vital planks .of their programme, and they hoped to secure full Government support to ensure its speedy passage. To-night's decision has revived the talk of an intensive Liberal campaign in the country.
