GREEK ORPHANS' FUND
' Spine, months ago Mr. Frank" Dyer, Consul. for Greece for the, Dominion, held meetings of Greek "residents in New Zealand and collected subscriptions in aid of the Greek Orphan Fund in Athene, quite a substantial • amount being .subscribed. By a recent mail Mr. Dyer received the following letter from Mr. A. Doxiadis, Minister of Public Assistance,. Athens, acknowledging, receipt of the draft, in which he says:— ■ ■ '
."In reply to ;rour letter of 18th December last, il have the honour1 to notify you that I have received the Union Bank of Australia draft for the'amount of _ £104- - 7s, which, through your grent assistance on the one part, and the ipatriotism of the Greeks resident in New Zealand on the second part, has. boon raised towards the Greek Orphan Fund, and which has been duly deposited in the National Bank of Greece, •Athens, in the joint names of the Minister of Public Assistance and the Minister of HealthYou will be pleased to ' heer that the amount you remitted realised in Greek inpney 26,504 drachmas, 90 lapta. Herewith I beg to send you cocy of a letter from th^ manager of: the National Bank, Athens, acknowledging receipt- of the above amount, and we will have tbe pleaBure to .send you atcour earliest, the official receipt, of the Orphanage.- We ask you to receive■' our heartiest -congratulations for; the interest you have taken in thio orphan fund, and also will you be kind enoush, on our behalf, to deliver our best thanks tp all these Greeks who donated subscriptions towards the fund, and let them be: sure, the little orphans will never forget their kindness as lons as they live." . .
