CHATHAM WINS CUTTER RACE
' The final of the. ships' cutter races for the silver cup and medals presented l>y Mr. James-Frobisher was rowed this morning shortly after 10 o'clock over a two-mile course, from a point off Point Jerningham straight .to/wards the centre of the harbour, on a point between the "Hood and the Adelaide.1 The competing crews were Irani the Hood and the Chatham. The contest, was a very keen one. •At first the Hood's cutter Jed slightly, but before the- race was half ,over.tne Chatham's boat began to overhaul the leaders and eventually won by eleven seconds —a very close finish. The race was rowed in: rain; with a lop on the sea through- a 'slight northerly breeze. The winners take, the Frobisher Giip'j-. and each member. 01 the crew receives a gold medal, -also'presented, by ■•Mr. Frobisher. ' ■ ■ .
