NEW ORIENT STEAMER
,Tho Union Steam Ship Company, of New Zealand, Limited, agents lor tho Orient Line, has received cable advice from Sydney that the Orient Company has contracted with Messrs. Viekers, Limited, for another steamer of the same design as Orama and Oronsay, now building. This third new stoamoi j» to h» dnl'vered in 18 months, and those three vessels, with tho Ormonde, will provide a fast monthly service. Particulars of the Orama and Oronsa jare : 630 ft, beam 73ft, depth V7ft. They wili have twin screw's, and be fitted with geared turbines, using oil. Their/gross tonnago will approximate 20,000 tons, which is equal in size to the largest steamers at present running to Australia. A feature in the new vessels will be the great-, number of single berth, cabins in tho salooDs, for, of a total accommodation for about 600 massengers, about 250 will be accommodated in single berth cabins, fitted in the most up-to-date manner. Ample provision is also being made in connection with thirdolass traffic, as these vessels will be nblo to carry with ev_ery comfort up to aboul 1250 passengers.
