ANOTHER ISLAND MYSTERY.

Another, sea mystery, is. reported from Samoa.-.A schooner with a crew.-of six)' mostly natives, disappeared from- Apia, Samoa,, in -February^ and nothing since has- been heard of either the. vessel or those, .on boardr ;'■',.■'.,.-. ■„. '. '„.■, . Following.,-upon the mystery.of. the motor-launch "Anna, belonging to Messrs. 0. F. Nelson and Co;,' Ltd., of Apia and Sydney," which was -.pirated from Apia Harbour towards .the end. of December, the secod mystery is causing considerable speculation and disquietude. Two of the1 crew .of the Aniia landed recently in the Ellice Group, 633 miles north-west of- Apia, in a dinghy, 'and reported that as the vessel became short ol provisions il; had been agreed they should try, and find land. They were detained, and sent back ,to .Samoa; and have been sentenced, one to thfee, and the other to four years' imprisonment, presumably for the. theft of,the launch and cargo.; The Anna, herself is still missing, and a launch is searching for the remainder of the crew...-'.'. The second missing vessel, the Felu Ap (Morning Star), owned by Messrs. Carruthers, Ltd., of Apia, and about twice the tonnage of the Anna, disappeared late in February, with a crew o* six, mostly natives.. It is reported that in addition to a cargo t of goods oF considerable. -value, the vessel had o.r board £600 in cash.
