PRISONER RECAPTURED
SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS.

TEAWAMUTU, This Day/ ;>A prisoner,named Kenneth Armstrong, serving a sentence at Waikeria Reformatory, escaped on Tuesday night, and was recaptured this; morning,' several miles away, in the Slai Ihi district, and has been returned to the institution. It is currently repprted that there has been a well-plannedi.attempt to manufacture houserbreaking, implements at the prison smithy by Armstrong a fellow prisoner who was recently discharged from the institution , and went to' Christchurch. He wai, there arrested a few days, ago, and, charged^ with tbeft of. prison property,' and' remanded to Tp Awamutu. A third party,; employed as share-milker on a farm near the institution, who is alleged to-be concerned in the scheme,.'has been arrested and charged wjth complicity. He was remanded until Wednesday next.
