KING'S THEATRE.
"A Lady of Quality," the last two screenings of which is notified at the King's Theatre,, is a Universal production which produces faithfully the atmosphere of one of the'most romantic periods of English history. The supporting programme is also excellent, and the musical items rendered hy the King's Select Orchestra, also call for special mention. Lauretta Taylor, who has won the hearts of a million of people with her famous characterisation of the delightful Peg in J. Hartley Manner's, play, "Peg" o' My Heart," will again be seen in her celebrated role, this time in screen form at the King's Theatre on Friday. As a stage play "Peg o' My Heart" has had one of the most phenorneual runs in theatre history. It has had 6608 performances in the United States alone. It has been played in England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Hawaii, Italy, Czecho-Slovakia, aid Paris. ' The screen now puts it within range of enjoyment of people residing in communities not reached by a stage performance. Miss Taylor covers herself with distinction in the screen version, through her sympathetic and tender portrayal of Peg. Shades of her whimsical character, never fully developed in tbo spoken play, because of the natural limitations of the theatre, are depicted in the celluloid version, and it is the opinion of many j who have seen.the stage play that the photoplay even excels its charm of characterisation of Miss Taylor's own inimitable Peg of tho footlights. Owing to a number of requests having been made, Mr. Herbert F. Wood, tho wellknown New Zealand tenor, will sing "Peg o' My % Heart." In addition, a strong supporting programme will be submitted in both music and pictures. The box plan is now open at The Bristol.
