The House" of Commons, devoted, an entire evening to a discussion on agriculture, in the course of which Mr. Noel Buxton, Minister of Agriculture, threatened- the possible 're-introduction of control of under-cultivated land. He said that if £200,000 for co-operative organisation .was insufficient the Gotern-. ment would unhesitatingly ask-the Treasury for more.
Something would be heard about State grants for sugar beet factories during the Budget. He- hoped there would bo a definite period during which the grow, ers and- workers in the important beet industry would be assured 6f assistance.
