FINES IMPOSED
BEEACHES OF LICENSING ACT.
Reserved decision was given by Mr. C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., in the Magistrate s Court yesterd-ay afternoon, in a licensing prosecution in which John benven and Samuel Edilson, barman and licensee of the Terminus Hotel, were charged with supplying liquor to an intoxicated person. Edilson was also charged with permitting drunkeuness on the premises. The Magistrate held that both defendants would have to be convicted. On the charge of supplying, Scriven was lined £5 and costs, and Edilson £2 10s and costs For permitting drunkenness the hcensee was further fined £5 and costs. .
On the application of Mr. D. Jackson, two of the fines were increased to £5 is, in order that an appeal might be T* gJ, „ Security of appeal was fixed at ijf 7s.
