THE LOCAL ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING OF

DELEGATES

The annual meeting of delegates to the I Wellington Football Association was held last evening, Mr. A. E. WelLs presiding. In welcoming delegates the chairman remarked that it was very pleasing to see such a large gathering, which spoke wall for the forthcoming season. He hoped the season would be a record one. MATTER FOR CONGRATULATION. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (details of which have been published in " The Post "), the chairman said that generally speaking the association should be congratulated on the past season, although it had suffered considerably from the weather. The enthusiasm, however, had been unequalled, and the season had been one of the finest as far as the Association game and club spirit went, and the best of. feeling had been shown. One of the most important aspects of the game was school football, and he thought that it would be generally admitted that school football had made a distinct advance during the year. The progress was due lo the fine efforts of the School Football Committee, which had brought the game toa very high state in the schools.

The question of grounds would have to lie considered. The City Fathers during the year had been hard put to find grounds, .and if the game continued to grow, the committee would, not be free from the trouble of the shortage of grounds for some time-. The committee was grateful to th o Referees' Association and the Boys'., Management Committee. Regarding outside matches, the chairman said representative matches and the Chatham Cup games were causing serious trouble, and were interfering with the ordinary cup games. Means would have to b 6 considered shortly to see if those matches could be curtailed to some extent: A lot of time had been taken up in the past season by the Chatham Cup and Brown Shield matches, and the whole question would have to be considered by the New Zealand Council. During the season a good deal of money had been expended in sending teams away, and very little had been got back. The association had been set back to the extent of £110, owing to sending teams away and bad weather experienced. Th c accident insurance scheme had again gone back; £53 had been paid out, and only £46 had been received.

TRAVELLING TEAMS1 EXPENSES. In seconding the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr. W. Duncan (hon. treasurer) said that never before had tile association spent so much on travelling teams, a total of £78 15s being expended. .Regarding outstanding subscriptions fiom clubs, Mr. H. Mayer suggested that the association work in conjunction with the Rugby Union, and bring out n defaulters' list. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The affiliation of the Lyall Bay Association Football Club was granted. , Election of officers resulted:.v.Patron, Hon. C. H. Izard, M.L.C.; president. Mr; C. P.
