THE ANNETTE KELLERMAN CUP
WON BY AN AUCKLANDER.

The third annual race- for the Annette* Kellerman _Cup was held this afternoon. A strong nor'-wester created difficulties during the first portion o£ the journey, but the water was favourable for the remainder of the. distance. Twenty-five competitors started, and all but two finished. A very large number of people lined the banks o£ the river. About ■ halfway, E. Grotty was leading Reid (both of Wanganui) by five yards; Harper (Auckland) was two- hundred yarda ! away, and M'Teague the same distance further back. Harper and M'Teagua gradually drew on the leaders, and a fine finish resulted in Harper winning : from M'Teague, wlw> was strongly challenged by Reid for third place. Following are the results :— Harper (Auckland), handicap 19min, time 79min 42 2-ssec 1 D.' W. M'Teague (Canterbury), 15 mm, 80min 6 3-ssec 2 V. Reid (Wanganui), 21min, 80min 31sec 3 H. Luissen (Wanganui), 19min, 81 mm 34sec 4 E. Bradley (Auckland), 19min, 84min 3 3-ssec ;... 5 Grotty (Wanganui), 22min, 85min 29 3-ssec 6 W. P. Smith (Auckland), lOmin, -86 mm 15 3-ssec 7 J. Eriwright (Auckland), 7min, 86min * 15 3-ssec g H. Zohrab (Wellington), 14niin','87min •20 3-Ssec g Two ladies were among the competitors. Miss Nuttall'fHawkes Bay) finished twelfth in 88min 20 3-ssec, and Miss Imandt (Wellington) was fifteenth with 89min 58 3-ssec. I
