PRISONERS SENTENCED

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day At Court to-day Hugh Owen was sentenced to eighteen months,' imprisonment for an indecent act, intended to annoy or insult., and twelve months for theft from the person, the sentences to be cumulative. It was stated that the indecent act was committed while in hospital, for which he was discharged He had previous convictions for vao-Vancv at Greymouth and Wes'tport. Ihomas William, a young man, said to be not normal, and unableto resist the impulse to commit theft was sentenced to three years' reformative, treatment for theft of a friend's fountain pen. The Crown Prosecutor said accused had been a nuisance in the district since childhood. His normal occupation was theft.
