COMING NEXT YEAR.

Mr. B. J. Kortlang, who .has been negotiating for the visit of a team of American baseball players to. New Zealand, has been informed that the NewYork Giante, who were the world's champions prior to last season, intend to make the trip to Australia and New; Zealand towards the end of next year. According to advice received by Mr. L. H. Gresham,. treasurer of the- NewSouth. Wales Baseball Association, who is at present on a visit to New Zealand, the. team will, arrive in Australia-in October, and wiji subsequently coma to New Zealand. The players • will include the. stars from the National Base-; ball League of America. The conditions under which the tour, is being made are most favourable from the Australian,and New Zealand point of view. Exhibition matches. are to be played, and the visitors, are asking for 80 per cent: of the gate ■ takings. It is anticipated that there will be a loss on the tour, but it is understood that Mr. M'Graw, manager and part-ownsr of the New York Giants, and others interesting themselves in the tour, are quite prepared to bear the loss. The object of the tour is to demonstrate in the two countries which,are now taking up the game : the extent to which baseball can be developed. • , ' .
