HANNAN STARTING TRAINING
OPERATIONS.

The first trial row by P. Hannan on the Waitemata took place to-day. The course covers three miles, from above the Riveflea Wharf to the mouth of Lucas Creek, north of Pine Island. Hannan had to 'pull against a strong wind and tide, but, rowing well within himself and at twenty-five strokes per minute throughout covered the distance in 20 minutes 30 seconds. He was accompanied over half the course by Stevenson, New Zealand amateur champion. . 1 lie spectators," among whom were members of the Harbour Board and the Hon.
