COUNT OF CANDIDATES
OVER 1400 FOR 615 SEATS.
LONDON, 26th November.
On the ■ eive of nomination day it is expected that the Unionists will nominate' 531 candidates, the Liberals 450, and Labour 422, including a handful styling themselves Co-operators or Communists. (There are 615.members.) Probably 55 will be returned, unopposed, made up of 38 Unionists, 10 Liberals, 6 Labourites, and 1 Nationalist. The last is Mr. T. P. O'Connor, "Father of the House of Commons." The three-corner-ed '. fights number 237. ! There will be double three-cornered fights, that is, six candidates for two seats, in Bolton, Brighton, Norwich, Southampton, and SunderJand. One of the hottest city fights is promising at Glasgow, where eleven Conservatives, eleven Liberals, fifteen Labourites, and one Republican are contesting fifteen seats. Thirty-eight women are standing, made up of eight Conservatives, , thirteen Liberals, sixteen Labourites, and two Independents.
