MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. C. E. Orr-Walker, S.M., presided at Saturday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court.
A young girl admitted the theft of £3 10s in money, the property of Bichard James Frivett. It was explained that the accused was a waitress at a private hoarding-house, at which the complain-' ant resided. A conviction was entered, and the girl ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Changes of drunkenness and theft of a pair of boots from the Civil Service Boot and, Shoes Store resulted in the appearance of Robert Collins. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft, and it-was urged on his behalf by Mr. W. H. Tustin that the accused's action was the result of his drinking bout. The Magistrate fined Collins £l for drunkenness, and dismissed the charge of theft _ A youth named Owen Charles George Thomas James' King pleaded guilty to a charge of theft'of several articles from a whare in Happy Valley. King, who ■was formerly a VVeraroa farm lad, was ordered to be returned to that institution. ■ .
Sir. C. R. Orr-Walker presided at todays sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Three first-offending inebriates received the usual lenient treatment. . . A remand for one week was granted in the case of Leslie Charles Thackwell who appeared on a charge of failW to provide his wife with adequate maintenance. A young man named Cyrii Sydney JohnlPoulton pleaded guilty-to stealing a suit of clothes, valued at £7 7 8 the property ■of Ernest Blackmore, ' and money to the value of £12 5s from the same person. The accused was represented .by Mr. J.
