A citizens' posse from the town of Brazil, Indiana, and a sheriff's party from an adjoining 'county, looking ior bandits, encountered one another in the dark and, under the belief that they wera the robbers, opened fire. Two were killed and four seriously wounded before they discovered their mistake.
