HOSPITAL ACCOUNTS
TRADES COUNCIL'S PROTEST,
The decision of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to employ an agency to collect outstanding accounts ior patients' fees was discussed at a meeting of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council last evening. The council expressed its view of this procedure in the following resolution: "This council deprecates the action of the Hospital Board in placing the business of collecting its accounts in the hands of the Commercial Agency, • and suggests as an alternative that the staff at the Hospital should include one or two collectors." Delegates present generally approved the principle of tho Hospital being administered entirely by public revenue, and contended that the charge for treatment of patients should be upon the community, and not upon'the individual sufferer.
