FACILITIES FOR TENNIS

A SUGGESTION TO BUSINESS

FIRMS.

Speaking at the Wellington ■ Lawn Tennis Association meeting, last night, the president (Mr. J. C. Peacock) mentioned an important feature of the scheme for providing Wellington with adequate tennis courts at Miramar. He said it had been'suggested by a prominent citizen that the association should extend the life membership idea, so as to enable companies and firms to support the scheme and benefit their employees. Employers were realising the advantage of catering for their employees, so as to keep them fit in mind and body, and make them more contented citizens. In this respect he instanced what had been done by large firms in England, Australia, and elsewhere. It had been decided to r^iend the constitution so as to give effecvfj the proposal, and he commended t.% idea to firms in the city. Life membership could be gained at the cost of £50 per head; so that £500 would provide for 20 nominated players. The £50 gave the right to nominate two players, and also tho right to cancel such nominations and to renominate others.
