LODGE MEETINGS

• A well-attended meeting of the Melroso Lodge was held on Tuesday last, A.D. Bro. Noad presiding. The.lodge continues ,to make steady progress, several members being initiated of late, two being added to the list at this meeting, who promise to become a valuable asset and the making of good officers later on. Island Bay and Coronation Lodges were officially represented by the A.D. and his officers and various members, also the D.P., Bro. Fisher. Pacific Lodge was also represented. An apology was received from P.G.P: Bro. . Flanagan, wh-a was unavoidably out of town on lodge business. The lodge is .generally favoured with visitors, the large number on this occasion attending for the purpose of taking part in the .presentation of a past secretary's collar to Bro. Hall, who at present holds the distinction of being a Past Arch and ,Past District President, this making his third past officer's collar. The District President made the presentation, and spoke m high praise of the work of the recipient, not only as the secretary. • but in other ways in. connection ,witii the lodge and Order. Bro. Hall thanked those present for the honour conferred on him, also the D.P.for his very kindly remarks, and altogether made a most appropriate speech. At.the conclusion of lodge business, the, visitors were entertained, the following toasts being proposed and responded to:—" The Kine and the Druids,".-" Grand Lodge," by P.D.P. Bro. Christophersen, responded to by the D.P. and P.S.. Bro. Sadd; G.L. Trustee," and "Our Newly Iniated Brethren," by P.S. Bro. Hall. The visitors were also accorded a vote of thanks, which was responded to by A.D Br9- Cornish, and V.A. Bro. Laughton and Bro. Hyman. Musical and elocutionary items added to the success of tho evening.

Court Pride of Sir George Brown. Juvenile Foresters, held its fortnightly meeting at the Church of Christ Hall, Bay road, Kilbirnie, on. Monday evening, • Bro. Frank Brewer presiding over a large atendance of members. Three new candidates were initiated with the usual formality.. Teh president reported that' the combined Juvenile Foresters' social would be held at Northland shortly. A vote of thanks was passed to Pioneer Lodge No. 1, U.A.O:D.' (Juveniles) for the excellent manner in which they entertained the Juvenile Foresters on a recent occasion. A vote of thanks and appreciation was also accorded Bro. S. "Vincent, for the splendid cinema picture show provided by him on the last meeting night. An invitation was extended to Pioneer No. 1 Juvenile, U O.A.D., to attend a social function] a date to be fixed.
