HERETAUNGA CHAMPIONSHIP.
n'^ len, fi ualu Of the Wellington Ladies' Uolf Uub championship was played at Heretaunga this afternoon, the finalists being Mrs. Sclanders and. Miss M. Marchbanks. Mm. Sclanders won 2up and 1 to go. In the early stages of the match neither player produced the Btandard ;of golf which,' had carried them to the final, but Mrs. Sclanders, playing somewhat more consistently, established a lead of 4 up by the time the seventh hole was reached. Mis s Marchbanks won the eighth, and the ninth was halved. At this stage the weather, which had been fairly good, developed into a high wind with driving rain. In spite of this, however, the players produced very much better golf; but Miss Marchbanks could not shake off the lead the match finishing on the seventeenth green. .
