ELECTION OF CONTROL BOARD
ARRANGEMENTS FOR POLL.
In anticipation of the proclamation about to be issued declaring the Dairy Industry Control Act to be in force, arrangements are in train by the Department of Agriculture for carrying out the poll required for the purpose of electing the producers' representatives on the Board of Control. The Act requires that six members of the board shall be elected by direct vote of the producers in the North Island and three by direct vote of producers in the South Island. The Crown Law Officers have decided that this necessitates taking a vote over the whole of the North Island and the South Island respectively, and- prevents the ward system of voting.being used: ; The poll will be taken By postal ballot, and all secretaries of dairy companies are being requested to provide the Electoral Department with lists of present suppliers, corrected 'up to date. These lists are to be in. the 1 handsDf ,the Electoral Department vby-16th November. ■ :\V'V ' .'' It is intended that nonjiriatibns of candidates shall bs required -<td' be in the hands of the Electoral-Department not later than 22nd November,-and that the poll shall close at noon on-13th-Decem-ber..
