CONFERENCE AGENDA

TWO OUTSTANDING QUESTIONS

SEVERAL COMMITTEES TO REPORT.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRIOnT.)

(ACSIRALIAN-KEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) , LONDON, 27th October. It is authoritatively stated that members of the Conference are endeavouring to conclude the sittings by the middle of November at the latest, possibly earlier. The only important .subjects awaiting the Conferences, apart from defence, are the status of Indians within the Empire, and the treaty-making powers of the Dominions. The first of these probably will be concluded next week. The other has already been remitted to a special ...committee which is now. in consultation with the Foreitrn Office. Delegates attach considerable im-, portance to the committee's report which if adopted b- the Conference will determine the treaty-making status of the Dominions for the first time in the Empire's history. There aro also several committees investigating various subjects, including migration, group settlement, financial co-operation between Britain and the Dominions with references to development enterprises, and defence contributions by the Dominions, all of which must be submitted to the Imperial Conference andl will probably occupy the last fortnight. • ,
