President Coolidge, in a letter read at a dinner to the former Premier, said the visit of Mr. Lloyd George to the United States had been "a piece of good fortune for both his country and our own, and for the cause of international accord." Mr. Hughes had a priva'to talk with Mr. Lloyd George to-night, preliminary to the dinner in the British statesman's honour. It was understood that President Coolidge was to participate in the conversation.
