Members of the J. C. Williamson Musical Comedy Company, who are opening their New Zealand season at the Urand Opera House on Wednesday, will arrive from Sydney by the Marama tomorrow. The opening.production, "The Cabaret Girl, ' is described as an appetising comic opera with the best of forward reputations,,and is being staged for the first time in the Dominion. It is the latest of the big. London successes, and is being played in Wellington before b» ing staged in Melbourne and other Ami tralian cities. It is evident thW a particular y - warm : welcome is in store for Mr. Alfred Frith, who will make his re-' appearance in the congenial part of "Mr. Gravvins. ' Mr. Harold Pearce, a notable English baritone, and Miss Mabel Monro, a leading-London comedienne will make a first appearance. Others who will be seen prominently in a long cast are Messrs. Field Fisher, Cecil Kellaway, and Cyril fßitchard, and Misses Nellie Payne, Millie Engler, and Marie Eaton. "The Cabaret Girl" is magnificently frocked. It is, moreover, supplied with music by Jerome Kern. The book and lyrics are by P. G. Wodehouse, wliich should be a guarantee for its humour. The elaborate scenery, a replica of the London production, is by Leslie Board. In view of the importance of th» enterprise, Mr. Harry B. Burcher, the producer of the play, will personally superintend the staging of. tie piece. The box plans are now open at The Bristol.
